Essential Information on an Essential Issue

    Letter No.43

    29 July, 1996

  • The JOBS POLICIES
This is a special issue of the Jobs Letter designed to give an overview of the employment policies being offered by the major political parties in the first MMP election to be held on October 12th.

We asked all the employment spokespeople from the parties to provide written answers to ten questions asked by our editors. Some parties chose not to answer all the questions directly, or provided only a short statement of their policies.

  • OUR QUESTIONS
    Who is your employment spokesperson?
    What are your employment policies?
What employment initiatives will your government take?
How will you encourage local government to be active in solving unemployment?
How will you encourage community groups working in this field?
Will you make any changes or additions to NZES programmes?
Will you make any changes or additions to ETSA programmes?
Will you make any changes or additions to CEG programmes?
What are your policies and initiatives on subsidised work programmes?
What are your policies and initiatives on education and training for the unemployed?
What are you planning to do about welfare benefits?
