Act

    ACT

  • Who is your employment spokesperson?
    No specific spokesperson

  • What are your employment policies?
ACT New Zealand does not believe it is the role of government to artificially create jobs. Rather, ACT believes that it is the responsibility of government to create an environment in which businesses and the economy are able to grow.
ACT's economic policies will lead to economic growth of seven per cent, which will create thousands of new jobs.
ACT's Social Welfare policy assists community groups working to retrain and find jobs for unemployed people. Such groups would receive direct assistance form the government to continue their work.
ACT also proposes that those receiving the Extra Help benefit will generally be expected to put something back into the community through community work. Such work could be assisting such groups.
ACT does not support the provision of subsidised government work schemes.

  • What are you planning to do about welfare benefits?
ACT will remove disincentives to paid employment and individual responsibility. Welfare should not support those who are able but unwilling to provide for themselves and their family.
