    Strategic Questioning

HEART POLITICS explores the ways that many people are slowly changing the world with political, social and economic action. The gatherings focus on our potential for personal action within the major issues confronting our society today.

OUR WORK is political -- it challenges the ways things are done. Our work comes from our hearts -- we are motivated to create ways of working for change that are based on positive human values. Our work also recognises the important links between personal and political changes, particularly as we learn to be effective in an MMP environment.

"We must learn not only to tolerate our differences. We must welcome them as the richness and diversity which can lead to true intelligence."
    -- Albert Einstein.

A WIDE DIVERSITY of people have met at Heart Politics Gatherings at the Tauhara Centre since 1989. The gatherings are a time to explore questions like :
  • What is our motivation for working for change in our communities ?
  • How do we each learn to work for the common good in a positive way ?
  • How do we find the energy, focus and will to keep working for change ?
  • How do we move on from an "us and them" model of social change ?
  • How can we be supportive of one another's work for the world ?
  • How do we learn to listen rather than only promoting our own ideas ?
  • How do we work on serious issues with humour and passion ?

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, people can change the world. Indeed, its the only thing that ever has."
    -- Margaret Mead
